MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Several gang members have been arrested following a major local drug operation.
The operation is called, “Operation: Dixie Homes Murda Squad.” On Tuesday, December 12, twenty-five people were indicted in the operation. They were charged with conspiring to sell and distribute heroin.
Several of those charged are affiliated with the Memphis street gang known as “The Dixie Homes Murda Squad.” The group started in the old Dixie Homes Housing Project several years ago, according to officials.
Memphis Police Department and Shelby County Attorney General’s Office held a news conference Monday afternoon addressing the 9-month investigation.
The investigation centered around the distribution of cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl. Investigators seized approximately $200,000 in cash, 2.5 kilograms of heroin, 2 ounces of cocaine, approximately 1 ounce of marijuana, 5 firearms, and 11 vehicles.
10 individuals have been arrested, and 15 individuals are still not in custody. During the round-up, two probable cause arrests were also made.
