Robert Pollard Jr. was recently shot to death in South Memphis, and his grieving parents said it happened after an argument over stolen lawncare equipment escalated out of control.
But Pollard also had witnessed the killing of his nephew last year and had agreed to testify against the suspect. His parents said local gang members had harassed and threatened their son.
“They said he wasn’t going to make it to the trial,” said his mother, Judy Mae Pollard, 64. She was shot in the leg at the same time as her son but survived.
