AUSTIN – Texas cornerback Holton Hill watched all the destruction from Hurricane Harvey in his native Houston and felt he had do something even from afar.
Hill scored Texas’ first two touchdowns against Maryland on a 31-yard interception return and a 65-yard blocked field goal return – the first FBS player with such a double in the last 10 years. He added eight tackles.
“No, I didn’t imagine that but something told me,” Hill said. “I’m from Houston and looking at the tragedy these past few weeks, I wasn’t able to be down there with my family, so I just had a chip on my shoulder.”
Texas wore helmet stickers to honor those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The stickers featured a heart over the southeast portion of Texas most impacted by the storm.
